  1. Adding products through the Departments page

If you have not added products yet for a specific department, you’ll have the chance to add products while on the Departments page. Once there are products attached to the department, you will not have the ability to add products here. However, you have plenty of other options to add products to departments elsewhere as mentioned above.

Visit the Departments overview page.

From the desired department, click “+ Add products”

“Add Products” slide out appear. In this slide out screen, the right hand column will have a “New” section.

From the “Products” dropdown, select products you’d like to add to the department.

  • Products who did not belong to any department will automatically appear under “New”
  • Products who already belonged to a different department will undergo “allocation cost confirmation”
  • Note: This process may be a little tricky if you’re unsure of how much your department will be covering in regards to cost. If other departments use this product, it’s good practice to speak with your financial team to understand how to allocate a product's costs.
  • Manually option: Allows you to divide the product costs among departments below
  • Headcount based option: Automatically calculate % cost allocation based on the number of employees in a department
  • You can confirm the department transfer by clicking “confirm” or cancel the transfer by clicking “x” at the top right of the employee card.

After all products are added to “New”, click “Save” to add products to the department and you’ll land back onto the Departments page.

2. Adding products through the Product page

If you want to bulk edit products into a department, you can easily do this from the Products overview page

Click “Next” to continue.

In this slide out screen, the right hand column now shows “New” and “Existing”

  • Products who did not belong to any department will automatically appear under “New”.
  • Depending on the department that was chosen, products who already belonged to the department will appear under “Existing”.
  • Products who already belonged to a different department will undergo “allocation cost confirmation”.
